Peak Lenin

We are glad to see you travelling in Kyrgyzstan. Since the county is famous for its wonderful nature of mountains, you will get acquainted with the Peak Lenin (7134 m). When you travel in Kyrgyzstan, you will be told that the Peak Lenin was discovered by the famous Russian explorer of Central Asia A.P. Fedchanko when he first travelled to the Northern Pamirs in 1871. Actually the mountain was reviewed by many people. There is one more name called before as the Peak Kaufman, but after a Russian Governor General, it was renamed in honor of the Soviet leader as Kuh-i-Gamo (Warm Mountain). During a tour in Kyrgyzstan, you will be told that the first expedition to this mountain was done in 1929 where only two people conquered the mountain and decided to climb the highest mountain in the Zaalaiskii range. after some years, there was the second expedition done by  Soviet team. After two attempts they finally reached the peak and placed there a statue of Lenin.

The next expedition was done from three participants of North in September 1934.

In the course of a tour in Kyrgyzstan, you will be informed about event which was held in 1934 and dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Soviet Union. There were about 301 people where 20 of them were women. After an important event they opened 16 routes to the summit.

It is important to note that, there were a lot of mountaineers who died conquering mountains. For example in 1974, the group of women lost their lives because of the storm. The next tragedy happened in 1991 where 44 climbers caught by an earthquake and only 1 survived. We recommend you to be careful when you travel in Kyrgyzstan.
