Khan Tengri

During tours in Kyrgyzstan you will be told that, the Khan Tengri was mistakenly identified by the Russian explorer Semyenov Tianshansky. He mixed up it with Kan Tau (Blood Mountain) in 1857. The first successful attempt to the mountain was done by a Ukrainian team in 1931.

During a tour in Kyrgyzstan, you will hear that there were restrictions of accessing to the mountain in 1989. Only officials and locals with special order could enter there. Today everyone can find a path there and enjoy.

On the way, you will find the Enilchek Glacier which lies at the foot of mountain and the famous Merzbacher lakes which used to appear and disappear all the time.  

On the route, there is the Ak Togue pass marks the watershed of the Terskey Ala Too range. You are going to see the highway passes through gorges covered in Tien Shan fir and find its way to the valley of the Karkara river to the high mountain valley of the Sary Zhaz river.
